Colva Police File FIR; One Arrested as Investigation Into Fatal Incident Continues

A tragic case of animal cruelty unfolded in Betalbatim on April 28, when a bull sustained fatal injuries during an illegal bullfight held in open paddy fields. The injured animal suffered multiple wounds to its body and neck before succumbing to its injuries shortly after the fight.

Colva Police have registered an FIR against the alleged organisers, identified as Aniceto from Varca and Eddie from Agacaim. The two are accused of inciting the bulls to fight for public entertainment, a practice prohibited under animal welfare laws.

South Goa Superintendent of Police Tikam Singh confirmed that charges of animal cruelty have been filed against the individuals involved. One of the accused has already been taken into custody, while investigations into the incident continue.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to enforcing animal protection laws and are urging the public to report any similar incidents of cruelty or illegal animal events.
