Calangute police net chain snatcher

PANJIM: The Calangute Police arrested a 22-year-old youth from West Bengal for allegedly snatching a gold chain worth Rs 1.5 lakh from a person at Calangute four days ago.

According to police, one Santosh Akki had lodged a complaint at the police station that his gold chain worth Rs 1.5 lakh was snatched on October 23, near the parking area, next to the public toilet near Bandodkar Statue.

During the course of investigation, police apprehended Rasib Mulla, a resident of Parra, Canca, and native of Sungarpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal.

During interrogation, Rasib confessed to committing the crime and police recovered the stolen chain at the instance of the accused.

Further investigation are in progress under the supervision of Calangute PI Paresh Naik and Porvorim SDPO Vishwesh Karpe under the overall supervision of North Goa Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal.
