Cameroon national held with drugs worth Rs 1L

PANJIM: The Anti-Narcotic Cell of Goa Police has arrested a Cameroon national from Arpora for allegedly possessing drugs worth Rs one lakh.

According to the police, the ANC sleuths had arrested one Nigerian national on October 2, with cocaine and ecstasy worth Rs 4.60 lakhs. In a follow-up action, the ANC apprehended the Cameroon national on October 4. The accused, identified as Promise Isaac Umeh, was allegedly found in possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, ganja and charas.

Meanwhile, police said that during the interrogation of the accused, it was revealed the owner of the house where he was staying had not followed legal procedures such as police verification and C-form formalities.

The ANC has submitted its report and complaint against the landlord to Mapusa Police Station to initiate legal action for failing to carry out Police verification of the accused tenant. It was also revealed that the accused was living in Goa without a valid visa.

A complaint in this regard has been filed by the ANC at Anjuna Police Station to initiate action against the accused under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act for overstaying, police said.
