Camurlim school teachers booked for beating, kicking 9-year-old boy

MAPUSA: Two teachers from a school in Camurlim were booked for thrashing and kicking a nine-year-old boy.

The incident reportedly took place at Shree Saraswati Vidya Mandir Primary School in Vagali. According to police reports, Sujal Gawade, one of the teachers, questioned the Class 4 student about tearing pages from his book, to which he responded that the torn pages were scribbled on. Following this, another teacher, Kanishka Gadekar, brought a steel ruler, and both teachers allegedly restrained the boy to prevent him from fleeing the classroom.

Gawade then allegedly assaulted the boy with the steel ruler, hitting him on his hands, thighs, legs, back, chest, and face, and even kicked him in the stomach. Additionally, Gawade

reportedly pulled the boy's right ear and dragged

his face against the writing board, causing bleeding

and swelling.

Gadekar is also accused of threatening the boy's cousin, a Class 3 student at the same school, warning of further assault if the incident was disclosed to anyone.

The Colvale Police Station has registered an offence under Sections 118(1), 126(2), 351(2), read with, 3 (5) of the BNS 2023, and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act 2003.
