A self-accident was reported on the Verna-Margao highway near Nuvem after the driver of a four-wheeler allegedly dozed off at the wheel.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle lost control, rammed into a roadside streetlight pole, and then swerved into a nearby field. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the mishap.
Local authorities were informed soon after the incident. The accident caused temporary disruption to traffic in the area before the vehicle was cleared from the spot.
Police have cautioned motorists to exercise care while driving, particularly on long stretches of the highway, where fatigue often contributes to accidents.
