In a freak accident at Verna, a car sustained severe damage after being struck by a dislodged wheel from a container truck. The incident occurred when the Alto, traveling towards Panjim from Verna, was hit by the loose wheel from an oncoming truck headed towards Margao.
According to eyewitnesses, the wheel detached from the container truck, bounced across the road, and slammed into the Alto, causing significant damage to the car. Fortunately, all occupants of the Alto escaped unhurt.
The driver of the container truck reportedly fled the scene following the accident. Police have launched a search for the absconding driver and are investigating the cause of the mechanical failure that led to the wheel detachment.
Authorities have urged vehicle owners and transport operators to conduct regular maintenance checks to prevent such dangerous incidents on the road.
