CASH-FOR-JOB SCAM: Merces man arrested for cheating ex-naval officer

PANJIM: The Old Goa police on Wednesday arrested Shiva More of Merces for allegedly cheating former Indian Navy officer to the tune of Rs 6 lakh on pretext of giving government job to his family member.

On October 30 this year, Laxmi Naik, residing at Voilembhat, Merces had filed a complaint against Shiva More and Sarita Kerkar, both residents of Caitanwado, Merces for allegedly preparing forged documents and cheating the complainant to the tune of Rs 6 lakhs on the pretext of providing government job.

After commission of the offence both the accused concealed themselves from being arrested. More and Kerkar had filed anticipatory bail applications before the Sessions Court, Panjim, but it was dismissed. In furtherance to the same both the accused filed anticipatory bail applications before the High Court of Bombay at Goa, who also rejected the applications.

The police team was sent to Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra to trace the accused. But after meticulous planning and sincere efforts through CDR analysis, the team managed to arrest Shiva More
