Centre approves acquisition of over 3.66 lakh sq mtr land in Cuncolim for NH-66 upgrade

The Central Government has formally acquired 36.6779 hectares of land (equivalent to 3.66 lakh square meters) in Cuncolim, Goa, for the development, expansion, maintenance, management, and operation of National Highway 66. This acquisition pertains to the Uskinibandh (Cuncolim) to Bendordem section between Kilometer 561.890 and Kilometer 570.220. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced this decision via a notification dated August 4, 2025.
All objections raised by affected parties during the process were duly reviewed by the competent authority, and their report was submitted to the Central Government. After careful consideration of the report, the Centre finalized the acquisition. According to the notification, the acquired land now vests completely and unconditionally with the Central Government, free from any encumbrances, in accordance with legal provisions.
