The Goa government has announced a major recruitment drive to fill 859 teaching and instructor vacancies across primary, secondary, and senior secondary levels, following a directive from the Union Ministry of Education. The Ministry’s Project Approval Board (PAB) under Samagra Shiksha has instructed the State to urgently address these vacancies by December 31, 2025. Of the total posts, 700 are for primary teachers to be hired through walk-in interviews scheduled from May 26 to 30, with a detailed reservation breakdown provided. Additionally, 129 NSQF instructor posts in vocational subjects and 30 positions in Fine Art, Western Music, and Theatre Art are set to be filled, with interviews on May 27 to 29.
The directive also emphasized regularizing appointments in key education bodies like the SCERT and DIET, where most positions remain contractual. The PAB noted 306 vacancies at the elementary level, 311 at secondary, and 231 at senior secondary levels. The Ministry further recommended ensuring teachers receive a minimum of 50 hours of annual professional development as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
