Chicalim hit-and-run leaves woman critical, pet dog dead

A tragic late-night hit-and-run near Chicalim junction on Friday left 35-year-old Rani Bind critically injured and her pet dog dead. Rani was standing near the road divider after walking her dog when a speeding car, allegedly driven by Ullas Naik, came from an internal road and struck her. The impact killed the dog instantly and left Rani severely injured. The car didn’t stop—continuing to drive recklessly, it collided with two more vehicles before jumping the divider and landing on the opposite side of the road.

Rani was immediately rushed to Goa Medical College Hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Her family, including brother-in-law Jatin Amonkar, has demanded strict legal action against the driver, insisting he should not be granted easy bail. Vasco police have registered a case and launched an active investigation into the incident. The case has reignited public concern over pedestrian safety and the urgent need to crack down on reckless driving.
