PANJIM: The Goa State Council for Science and Technology, based in Saligao, is acting as the nodal agency for the Geographical Indication (GI) registration of Goa sausages, or choris. To facilitate this process, the council is initiating a proposal to establish a Goa Choris Producers Association, aiming to bring all stakeholders together on a single platform.
This association will play a crucial role in standardising choris production and developing a strategic plan for branding the sausages with a GI tag once it is obtained. All choris producers across the State are invited to participate in a meeting scheduled for November 6 at 3 pm. The meeting will take place in the Menezes Braganza mini-conference hall in Panjim, where discussions will focus on the formation of the producers association and the election of a managing committee.
