Churchill Brothers owner Churchill Alemao has expressed serious concerns over the recent decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that declared Inter Kashi as the 2024–25 I-League champions, overturning the earlier standings which had Churchill Brothers as provisional winners. Speaking to the media, Alemao revealed that his legal team is currently reviewing the CAS ruling and considering legal avenues to challenge the verdict.
“We don’t understand how Churchill Brothers were removed from the top spot,” Alemao said. “As far as we know, we were declared champions and even have the trophy with us. Now, suddenly, we are told Inter Kashi are the champions.”
The controversy arose after CAS issued a verdict that revised the official final standings for the 2024–25 I-League season. Initially, Churchill Brothers were declared champions based on their accumulated points. However, following an appeal by Inter Kashi—likely related to a disputed match or regulatory issue—CAS ruled in favor of Inter Kashi and awarded them the title.
Alemao stressed that the matter goes beyond just the championship title, highlighting concerns over transparency and fairness in Indian football. “We have competed with full commitment and fairness all season. If there is a legal justification for this decision, we want to see it. Our legal team is thoroughly examining the case.”
Churchill Brothers, a club with a strong legacy in Indian football, is prepared to take further action if necessary. “We will not stay silent if an injustice has been done,” Alemao asserted.
