Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated solar power systems in seven government-run schools across Goa on Tuesday, as part of the Shine On – Embracing Solar Energy for Our Schools initiative. This project is implemented under NetApp’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

The solar installations provide a total capacity of 62.5 kW across the seven schools, expected to generate 1.1 lakh units of clean energy annually. This is estimated to cut electricity costs by up to 75 percent and reduce carbon emissions by 95 metric tonnes each year. More than 3,000 students will directly benefit from the project. The Chief Minister thanked NetApp and BharatCares for their collaboration, highlighting how such partnerships are helping to build a greener, smarter, and stronger Goa, while securing a brighter future for the state’s youth.

Announcing the launch on his official X account, Sawant praised the initiative as a strong example of how sustainability, innovation, and education can come together to empower students while protecting the environment.
