In a significant development following the recent High Court order, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant addressed a meeting with all ministers today to discuss the government’s approach to illegal activities, particularly concerning illegal structures and roadside encroachments.
During the meeting, CM Sawant emphasized that no illegal activities will be tolerated moving forward. Both district collectors have been activated, and their contact numbers have been made available for public concerns. The government is committed to adhering to the High Court's directives and will take immediate action against illegal structures. However, the Chief Minister also mentioned that the government is in the process of considering a new bill aimed at regularizing irregular structures. This new legislation will be introduced in due course.
Addressing the issue of roadside encroachments, CM Sawant made it clear that there will be no tolerance for encroachments on acquired roads. "People should clear any encroachments they have on these roads," he stated, reinforcing the government's stance on maintaining order and compliance with the law.
While the government is ready to enforce strict action against illegal structures, CM Sawant assured that efforts will also be made to provide a pathway for regularising existing irregular structures in accordance with the High Court's guidelines.
