Goa CM Pushes Forward TB-Free State Agenda, Approves Handheld X-Ray Devices for Rural Screening

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a key meeting on the TB Mukta Bharat Abhiyan along with Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and other senior officials to review progress on eliminating tuberculosis from the state.

In a significant decision, the CM approved the purchase of handheld X-ray machines through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal to strengthen early detection and treatment efforts. These portable devices are expected to significantly enhance screening capabilities, especially in remote and rural areas.

Emphasizing grassroots intervention, CM Sawant directed officials to initiate TB screening at the panchayat level and finalize specific parameters that will help Goa achieve the status of a TB-free state.

The meeting underscored the state’s commitment to align with the national vision of eliminating tuberculosis by 2025 under the TB Mukta Bharat campaign.
