Complaint Filed Over Alleged Large-Scale Forgery of Comunidade Land in Anjuna

A complaint has been lodged by Sebastian D'Souza, the Attorney for the Comunidade of Anjuna, accusing individuals of large-scale forgery related to over 2 lakh square metres of Comunidade land. The complaint, filed on April 8 at the Mapusa police station, names Yeshwant and Minakshi, residents of Assagao, along with other unidentified individuals.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly forged multiple documents, including provisional and final possession certificates, demarcation proceedings, and official orders dating back to the 1950s, to illegally claim possession of land identified under Survey Nos. 496/1 and 496/1-A in Anjuna. The accused are accused of impersonating officials of the Anjuna Comunidade, forging their signatures and handwriting, and utilizing the fake documents to unlawfully transfer ownership rights over the Comunidade property.

The complaint outlines the severity of the alleged forgery and its potential impact on the rightful ownership and use of the land. Authorities are investigating the matter further.
