Less than 1.5 years after its inauguration on December 23, 2023, the new Zuari Bridge has raised serious safety concerns, as pieces of concrete have started to fall off from its expansion joints. The incidents, which have occurred near the Agaçaim Police Station, have left locals worried about the potential danger to pedestrians and vehicles passing under the bridge.
Residents of the area have expressed their alarm, pointing out that falling concrete could pose a deadly risk. “This is a serious matter of concern. If these pieces fall on someone, it could be fatal. Who will be held responsible if a tragedy occurs?” questioned a concerned local.
Despite the obvious safety risk, there has been no official response or action taken by the authorities to address the issue. Locals are calling for urgent inspection and repairs, with some suggesting that the contractor responsible for the bridge should take immediate action to assess the situation.
“The contractor should come and inspect the site as soon as possible,” said another resident, highlighting the urgency of the matter. With public safety at stake, many are hoping for a swift resolution before any unfortunate incidents occur.
