Congress, Tiranga YatraThe Congress party organised a Tiranga Yatra (tricolor rally) in Panaji, Goa, to honour the Indian Armed Forces for their valour in the ongoing conflict with Pakistan and in recognition of the success of Operation Sindoor.

Prominent Congress leaders, including Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao, MLAs Carlos Alvares-Ferreira and Altone D'Costa, South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes, and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) chief Amit Patkar, were present, accompanied by numerous party workers. The march commenced from Congress House and proceeded to the 2STC headquarters, symbolising solidarity with the nation's armed forces.

Congress' Position on National Security and Operation Sindoor

During the event, Congress issued a statement commending the Indian Armed Forces for their successful execution of Operation Sindoor. The party stressed that national security must be above politics, advocating for unity among all political factions during this crucial time.

"The GPCC and the Indian National Congress stand united behind our government and armed forces during this critical period. National security should transcend politics, unity is paramount," the statement read.

This sentiment aligned with the Congress Working Committee's earlier declaration of full support for the armed forces and the government's response following the Pahalgam terror attack and the ensuing escalation along the India-Pakistan border. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior leaders reaffirmed their pride in the armed forces' actions, asserting that the party stands "shoulder to shoulder with the brave soldiers of the country" and will continue to support efforts safeguarding India's unity and integrity.
