PANJIM: The Opposition party has strongly opposed direct recruitments in government jobs bypassing the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Amit Patkar on Friday charged that the BJP-led government continues to ignore the will of the people and refuses to learn from its past recruitment scams in PWD, GMC, Health, Police and Collectorate.
“We won’t allow Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to return to his fraudulent, departmental recruitment methods. Goa’s youth deserve jobs on merit, not corruption,” Patkar said, warning Goan youth not to fall prey to “Sale of Jobs.”
“I appeal to Goan youth and their families to remember the past instances when government had to scrap recruitment process in various departments after expose by Congress Party on corruption in recruitment process. I urge them not to get lured by fraudulent assurances of “BJP Dalals,” warned Patkar.
Patkar alleged that attempts are being made to scrap Staff Selection Commission and revert back to departmental recruitments. This is being explored to facilitate "Sale of Jobs". Congress is keeping a close watch on the developments. We will not allow BJP to cheat and fool educated Goan youth, he said.
Patkar recalled that in 2021 recruitments in PWD were scrapped after Congress took up the issue of corruption. Then Panjim BJP MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate had also vindicated Congress allegation by charging then PWD Minister Deepak Pawaskar of Rs 70 crore job scam. In 2022, direct hiring of 1,300 vacancies in GMC and Health Department was challenged in the High Court. Same year, irregularities surfaced in recruitment of 145 Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs), he pointed out.
