PANJIM: The Opposition Congress party on Thursday slammed the BJP-led government for collapsing law and order in the State.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) spokesman Tulio D’Souza said that people come to Goa to commit crimes and also see it as a place to hide due to police from other States are often arriving in the State to nab criminals. There is now apprehension in the minds of people of Goa, who are seeking to know whether they are safe in the State.
De Souza alleged that the government was silent on land conversions, rampant hill cuttings and there was no sign of resumption of mining activity. People want to know the stand of the government on attempts made by former RSS Goa chief Subhash Velingkar to disturb communal harmony in the State by making ‘controversial statement’ on St Francis Xavier.
GPCC vice president Sunil Kawthankar and Archit Naik were also present during press briefing.
