PANJIM: Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas, who is supporting the BJP government in Goa, met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and asked him to revoke permissions issued to M/s Parmesh Constructions Company Limited, or Bhutani Infra project, at Sancoale.
Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas too met the
CM separately.
The Chief Minister assured them that he would look into the matter and take a decision within next two days. Sawant is learnt to have also asked for the report from the Sancoale village panchayat.
Significantly, the village is against the Sancoale panchayat’s abject delay in acting on revoking the construction licence. it asked for legal opinion on the reply of “Bhutani” ( M/s Parmesh Constructions) to the show cause notice issued by it.
Vas in his representation to the Chief Minister, had stated that the whole village was against the project and that the former sarpanch Premanand Naik is also on hunger strike demanding revocation of construction licence issued to the project proponent.
“There could be severe consequences if the construction work starts and it could also lead to a law-and-order situation in the village,” he said.
Vas pointed out that if the project is allowed, it will destroy the flora and fauna of the village and put pressure of existing infrastructure such as water, electricity and garbage disposal.
He also recalled that he had raised the issue during the Goa Assembly session wherein he was assured by the government that the matter would be investigated thoroughly and if need be the permission issued by the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department would be withdrawn. But till date nothing had been done in this regard, he said.
The Cortalim MLA brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that the Bhutani Infra had also not obtained permissions for cutting of land and water and electricity connections.
AAP MLA Venzy Viegas also met the Chief Minister and requested him to resolve the issue by revoking the construction licence issued to Bhutani Infra.
He said that the Chief Minister assured him that he will speak to the Director of panchayats and the panchayat secretary and diffuse the issue.
Viegas said that the 'Gram Sevak' was officiating as the panchayat secretary.
Velim MLA Cruz Silva met Director of Panchayats, Siddhi Halarnakar and highlighted the misuse of power by the Sancoale panchayat members and the panchayat secretary and demanded immediate action against them. He also demanded immediate revocation of the construction licence issued to the Bhutani Infra project.
However, the Director of Panchayat told him that the Sancoale village panchayat had powers to revoke the construction licence.
