In response to growing concerns from residents and tourists, local authorities in Calangute are gearing up to take strict action against individuals loitering in Tito's Lane past midnight. A tip-off has sparked suspicions that the presence of these individuals may be part of a larger, organised setup.
Speaking to the press, an official confirmed that they have spoken to the Calangute Police Inspector (PI) and offered full support to remove such unwanted elements, particularly those lingering on the roads beyond 12 a.m.
“We have received information suggesting that 2-3 individuals from Calangute might be collecting money from these people just for allowing them to stand there. This needs to be verified,” the official stated.
Instructions have been issued to the police to deploy lady officers to manage the situation appropriately. The administration has also assured support through NGOs or government assistance, if necessary, to rehabilitate or counsel those involved.
The official stressed that such activity, if proven, will not be tolerated and reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring safety and order for both locals and visitors in Goa’s most popular nightlife destination.
