Dabolim airport enforces strict security rules under new DGCA directive

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has implemented new regulations prohibiting all forms of photography and videography at Goa’s Dabolim Airport, both within the terminal premises and aboard aircraft during critical flight phases. Effective from May 20, 2025, the directive applies to all scheduled, commuter, and non-scheduled flights operating from defense-controlled airfields across India. Dabolim, which operates as a civil enclave within a military airbase, is among the affected locations.

The ban specifically covers capturing photos or videos inside the terminal, in transport vehicles to and from the aircraft, during pushback, taxiing, take-off, landing, and any time the aircraft is below 10,000 feet in altitude—excluding views from emergency exit windows.

Also, the DGCA has mandated that all passenger window shades, except those at emergency exits, must remain closed during take-off and landing, and until the aircraft ascends beyond or descends below 10,000 feet. This safety measure aims to minimize risks and prevent the potential leak of sensitive security information, particularly at strategically significant airfields like Dabolim.

Airlines have been instructed to inform passengers about these restrictions through pre-flight and pre-landing announcements, as well as through visible signage within the airport and onboard aircraft.
