Two youths in an SUV were involved in a hit-and-run accident in Sankhali on the evening of June 19, 2025. The incident occurred around 8:15 PM near Gokulwadi, when the speeding SUV collided with a two-wheeler and fled without stopping to help the injured rider.

Fortunately, the entire incident was recorded by a dashboard camera in a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The footage clearly showed the white SUV overtaking recklessly, striking the two-wheeler, and fleeing the scene.

The owner of the dashcam-equipped car promptly submitted the video to the police, which proved instrumental in identifying the vehicle and tracking down the suspects. Within hours, Sankhali police apprehended the accused. Among those detained was a 17-year-old minor, along with three others, including Jayesh Gawas and Sahil.

The quick response by law enforcement drew praise from the local community, as such cases often go unresolved due to lack of witnesses or clear evidence.

The incident has underscored the growing importance of dashboard cameras in aiding traffic investigations. Sankhali police urged residents to assist with any available evidence in similar cases and reaffirmed their commitment to taking strict action against offenders.

The injured two-wheeler rider received timely medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. The case remains under investigation, with further legal proceedings expected.
