MARGAO: Amongst the many discussions that were held at the Davorlim-Dicarpale gram sabha, key topics taken up were the assurances given by Sarpanch Saiesh Rajadhyaksh about the panchayat’s plans to construct a market for vegetable and other vendors and to also build a multi-purpose hall.

The Sapranch added that both these facilities were long-standing demands of the locals. He also added that space has been identified for these two projects.

At the same time, the Sarpanch promised to take action not only against illegal vendors but also against any illegal constructions in the village.

Examples of such alleged illegalities were shared during the meeting. One was about the vendors from the Power House junction to the Nessai road and about the alleged illegal construction that has come up on an area that is shown as a ground on the Margao Outline Development Plan (ODP).

The gram sabha also discussed the need to create a new health centre that would cater to the requirements of the local residents as well as the neighbouring villages if need, in view of the fact that currently, Davorlim-Dicarpale falls under the jurisdiction of the Curtorim Primary Health Centre (PHC). The Sarpanch pointed out that this is proving to be quite far for the locals and that the population of the village has also increased.

The Sarpanch added that these proposals along with plans to carry out beautification of the village will be sent to the Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar and the Chief Minister.
