Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has assured swift action to resolve the medical treatment challenges faced by beneficiaries of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) in Goa. This assurance followed a meeting between Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, and the Defence Minister, where concerns raised by the United Veterans Association regarding healthcare access for ex-servicemen were discussed.
Salkar stated, “During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the difficulties ECHS beneficiaries face in obtaining timely and adequate medical care in Goa and urged the Defence Minister to address these issues promptly.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and promised to personally oversee efforts to resolve the problems quickly. This commitment brings hope to Goa’s large ex-servicemen community, many of whom have voiced frustration over inadequate services, long wait times, and limited facilities at ECHS-designated hospitals.
The Chief Minister plans to maintain ongoing communication with the Defence Ministry to ensure the promised improvements are implemented without delay. The state government’s proactive stance demonstrates its dedication to supporting ex-servicemen and their families who depend on ECHS for healthcare.
The ex-servicemen community has welcomed this development, optimistic that the intervention will lead to meaningful enhancements in the quality and accessibility of ECHS medical services in Goa.
