Developer tenders apology for ‘objectionable’ advt

PANJIM: Delhi-based developer, The House of Abhinandan Lodha Estate Holding Pvt Limited, on Friday tendered an apology to the people of Goa for hurting their sentiments with their ‘objectionable’ advertisement, even as the same was withdrawn.

The real estate firm withdrew its advertisement ‘Delhi, Rulers of India, now conquer Goa’, after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant asked the Home Department to send a letter to the builder on Thursday, asking him to withdraw the obnoxious advertisement which “tend to hurt the sentiments of proud residents of independent Goa”.

In a letter to the Under Secretary (Home-I), Abhinandan Lodha Estate Holdings Private Limited Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Samujjwal Ghosh, said, “We sincerely apologise for the hurt caused to the sentiments of the people of Goa. We deeply respect the culture and heritage of Goa and we are extremely grateful for the support and hospitality extended to us by the people of Goa.”

Ghosh said the objectionable advertisement was published on the website of 360 Realtors and once it was brought to the notice of the company, 360 Realtors was instructed to remove the advertisement. “The advertisement was removed from their website on July 31, 2024,” he said.

The Home Department had issued a notice to the company on Thursday, asking them to withdraw the ‘controversial’ advertisement, failing with, appropriate action will be initiated against the agency.
