PONDA: Out of 750 selected panchayats at the national level, the Dharbandora panchayat from Goa was honoured with the Jan Yojana Abhiyan award by the Union Ministry for Panchayati Raj. The panchayat was selected for its efforts in reaching out to people and making various government schemes available to them.
As part of this recognition, on October 2, the Dharbandora panchayat, along with local Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar and Sarpanch Balaji Gawas, held a special gramsabha to felicitate around 100 senior citizens aged 75 years and above.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar stated, “People from various religions reside in our country. Unity in diversity is the identity of our country.”
Sarpanch Balaji Gawas expressed, “It’s a proud moment for us as our Panchayat has been selected from Goa, and through this we got the opportunity to felicitate senior citizens.”
On this occasion, a dental camp was held, alongside wall painting and rangoli competitions.
Present at the event were Pradeep Kumar, an official from the Panchayat Raj Ministry, Dharbandora taluka BDO Adarsha Desai, Deputy Sarpanch Suchita Gawas, Ashwini Acharya, Kamal Kishore and other panchayat members.
