I am writing to bring to public attention, of the deplorable condition of the Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) office in Margao, which poses serious health and safety risks, especially during the monsoon season.
The situation worsens dramatically when it rains, turning the office into a hazardous environment for the employees who work there on daily basis and for the citizen who visit there. The infrastructure is severely compromised, with water leaking through ceilings and other sources, creating puddles across the office. This not only disrupts work but also puts everyone at risk of accidents, such as slips and falls. Furthermore, stagnant water fosters a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other disease-carrying vectors, heightening the risk of waterborne and vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, and other infections. This is a life-threatening situation for both employees and anyone visiting the premises.
It is extremely concerning that such conditions are allowed to persist in a public office, despite the known health risks. I urge the Government, the KTC management, and the concerned cabinet minister to treat this matter with the urgency it deserves. Immediate action is required to renovate the office premises and ensure a safe working environment for all employees before a serious incident occurs.
The well-being of workers must be prioritized, and I hope this letter will serve as a call to action for those in positions of responsibility to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
