PANJIM: The Directorate of Education has asked schools to promote awareness and understanding of child safety and security among the society as per the guidelines of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).
According to Director of Education Shailesh Sinai Zingde, in order to enhance the safety and security of children in schools, the Commission has developed a comprehensive manual on safety and security along with "Guidelines on School Safety and Security" from the Ministry of Education. These guidelines are designed to establish accountability for the safety of children in all schools including private institutions.
To create awareness and understanding of these guidelines and manual among key stakeholders such as children, parents and schools, the NCPCR has created an informative IEC materials including short films and regarding safety of children in schools.
All the head of government/government aided/unaided/primary/secondary/higher secondary and special schools are requested to disseminate these videos to promote awareness and understanding of child safety and security among the society.
Meanwhile, the Director of Education informed that almost 100 per cent of schools in the State submit daily reports on mid-day meal.
Reacting to a report appearing in a section of press, Zingde said the Directorate of Education was receiving 100 per cent daily reports every day on the consumption of mid-day meals. He clarified that the 39 per cent figures were derived through the government app which is currently showing errors not only in Goa but in other States also.
