SIT Nabs Duo for Forging Documents to Illegally Acquire Land in Assagao

PANJIM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) Land Grabbing on Monday said that it has arrested two persons for allegedly grabbing land at Assagao.

According the police, the accused identified as 44-year-old Divyakumar Khandar from Mangeshi and 41-year-old Yogesh Magar from Mardol allegedly created forged, fraudulent documents of properties bearing survey numbers 237/7 and 206/13 of Assagao village and succeeded in transferring ownership rights of the land in their name.

They further sold the properties to genuine and bonafide purchasers, the police said.

They have been arrested in connection with a case registered at Mapusa Police Station under Sections 465, 466, 467, 419 and 420 read with 34 of IPC. The complaint was filed by Felix Noronha from Boutta Vaddo, Anjuna.

Both the accused were produced before Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Mapusa which remanded them to five days police custody.

The case is being investigated by PSI Pritesh Madgaonkar under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (Crime/SIT, Land Grabbing) Rahul Gupta and DySP SIT (Land Grabbing) Shivram Vaigankar.
