In a major crackdown, Calangute Police raided a premises in Sauntawado, Baga, and arrested five individuals from West Bengal for allegedly running a fake call centre targeting foreign nationals.
According to police, the accused posed as representatives of computer service companies and contacted unsuspecting victims abroad under the pretext of resolving technical issues. They allegedly duped victims into making payments through gift cards, which were then redeemed by the fraudsters.

An investigation is currently underway to identify other individuals involved and trace the financial trail of the operation. Authorities have also urged the public to remain cautious about unsolicited tech support calls, especially from unknown sources.
