A tragic road accident at Birla Cross Junction, Cortalim, claimed the life of one individual and left another seriously injured. The incident occurred when Simon Leema, a resident of Honnavar in Uttara Kannada, was riding his motorcycle from Upasnagar-Sancoale towards the junction.
According to a police report, Leema was allegedly riding in a rash and negligent manner. As he reached the traffic signal point, he reportedly crossed the highway towards the Pinni side without proper caution. This led to a collision with another motorcycle, ridden by Avinash from Bardez. The impact of the crash caused a secondary collision with a car nearby.
While Avinash sustained grievous injuries, Leema fell onto the road and was severely injured. Despite efforts to save him, Simon Leema later succumbed to his injuries.
The police are investigating the incident, and authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent such tragic accidents.
