The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has shut down several food establishments in Agacaim, Sangolda, Mapusa, and Assagao during a recent surveillance drive targeting hygiene and regulatory compliance.

According to officials, a biryani outlet in Agacaim was ordered closed after it was found operating without the mandatory FSSAI license. In Sangolda, two cloud kitchens were shut down due to unhygienic conditions that posed potential health risks.

Further inspections in Mapusa and Assagao led to the closure of additional outlets for similar hygiene violations. A fast food outlet in Assagao was also fined ₹5,000 for non-compliance with food safety standards.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of FDA Director Shweta Dessai, who stated that follow-up inspections are ongoing to ensure establishments meet all regulatory requirements before reopening.
