Surprise Inspections in Siolim, Karaswada, Colvale & Mapusa Lead to Closures and Compliance Notices

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) continued its ongoing surveillance drive in the Bardez taluka, inspecting 11 food establishments across Siolim, Karaswada, Colvale, and Mapusa. As a result of the inspection, five eateries were directed to shut down operations due to serious food safety violations.

The remaining establishments were issued improvement notices and given a 14-day deadline to rectify deficiencies. Failure to comply will result in suspension of their FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) licenses.

The inspection team was led by Licensing Authority Richard Noronha, along with Food Safety Officers Amit Mandrekar, Nousin Mulla, and Lenin Desa. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Director Shweta Dessai.

Officials emphasized that the crackdown is part of a broader effort to ensure food safety and hygiene standards across Goa, especially in high-footfall tourist and residential zones.
