Two Snack Units Shut, Fake FSSAI License Unearthed in Karaswada During FDA Inspections

In a major enforcement drive, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted surprise inspections across Bardez and Pernem talukas, leading to significant action against violators of food safety norms.

Two Indian snack manufacturing units were shut down for maintaining unhygienic conditions, while a bakery unit and a restaurant in Parra were ordered to suspend operations until further compliance. The inspections are part of the FDA’s ongoing efforts to ensure food safety and public health.

A major case involving a fake FSSAI license surfaced in Karaswada, where a wholesale supplier, in collusion with a Mumbai-based consultant, was found operating with forged documentation. The vendor, who runs outlets in both Karaswada and Dhargal, was issued a stop notice and instructed to file an FIR against the consultant.

In addition to these actions, fines totaling INR 30,000 were imposed on three vendors for various violations. The FDA has reiterated its commitment to strict enforcement and warned food business operators to comply with hygiene and licensing regulations or face legal consequences.
