A team from the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted inspections at premises in Parra and the Pilerne Industrial Estate, uncovering serious food safety violations at a cashew processing unit.

During the inspection of GaiCashew LLP, a cashew manufacturing unit in Parra, officials discovered the use of expired raw materials, including masalas, squash, flavours, seasonings, and ready-to-drink mixes. The stock, valued at approximately ₹4 lakh, was immediately seized and destroyed with assistance from the local panchayat.

The FDA issued an improvement notice to the Food Business Operator (FBO), directing them to undertake corrective measures and ensure compliance with food safety standards. Authorities stated that further action may follow if violations persist.

The inspection is part of the FDA’s ongoing drive to ensure food safety and protect public health across Goa.
