The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) is set to ramp up its inspection drives across the state, with authorities vowing strict enforcement of hygiene and safety regulations.
“I have given the FDA Director full liberty. Raids will increase, and FDA officers are doing commendable work,” said a senior government official, while emphasizing that the aim is not to harass businesses but to ensure that public health standards are upheld.
The official reiterated that while the government supports fair business practices, it will take a zero-tolerance approach to violations. “We want people to follow the guidelines and maintain proper hygiene and safety standards,” the official added.
The move comes amid growing concerns over food safety, expired products, and poor sanitary conditions in some establishments. The FDA has already conducted several successful inspections and seized substandard or unsafe products in recent weeks.
Officials confirmed that regular checks will continue, especially in food-related businesses, pharmacies, and manufacturing units. Business owners have been urged to cooperate fully with inspectors and comply with all relevant norms to avoid punitive action.
