The Feast of St. Anthony was celebrated with deep devotion and vibrant community spirit at St. Anthony Chapel, Deussua, on Sunday, drawing a large crowd of parishioners and devotees from neighbouring areas.
The day began with a solemn Eucharistic Mass, presided over by His Grace, Archbishop Simao Fernandes, who served as the main celebrant. He was joined by several concelebrating priests, adding spiritual depth to the occasion. In his homily, Archbishop Fernandes reflected on the virtues of St. Anthony—particularly his humility, compassion, and faith—urging the faithful to live by his example and extend kindness to those in need.
The chapel was beautifully decorated with flowers and festive adornments, while the choir filled the air with hymns dedicated to the saint, creating an atmosphere of prayer and celebration. Special prayers were also offered for families, the sick, and all those seeking St. Anthony’s intercession.
Following the Mass, a traditional procession was held, with the statue of St. Anthony carried reverently through the chapel grounds, accompanied by prayerful singing.
Beyond its spiritual essence, the feast also served as a moment of fellowship. Parishioners came together to organise the celebration—preparing refreshments and hosting cultural programmes that highlighted local traditions and talent.
