In a bid to promote greenery in urban areas, the Forest Department has asked all municipalities to identify suitable locations for afforestation projects.
Speaking on the initiative, senior leader Digambar Kamat confirmed that a joint inspection was conducted to assess proposed sites in Margao. "Margao Municipality has suggested three locations, including Sonsodo, for urban afforestation. We inspected the area today," Kamat said.
The move is part of a broader plan to increase green cover in cities and improve environmental sustainability through targeted tree plantation efforts.
