Four Arrested for Assaulting Forest Officers in Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary

In a joint operation, Collem Police and the Forest Department arrested four individuals for allegedly trespassing into the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and assaulting forest patrol officers.

According to official sources, the suspects unlawfully entered the protected area, known for its rich biodiversity and strict conservation measures. When confronted by patrolling forest personnel, the intruders reportedly turned violent, attacking the staff with a knife and stones. Several forest officials sustained injuries and were immediately given medical attention. All are currently in stable condition.

Authorities responded quickly, arresting the accused shortly after the incident. A case has been registered under the Wildlife Protection Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for illegal entry, assault, and obstruction of government duty.

The motive for the intrusion remains under investigation, with officials probing potential links to other illegal activities in the sanctuary. The Forest Department has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the sanctuary and warned of strict action against violators.
