In a significant breakthrough, Colvale Police have arrested four youths, including a minor, for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into Colvale Central Jail. The accused reportedly used a rope tied to a tree to throw drug packets over the prison’s rear boundary wall.

According to police sources, the method involved using the cover of darkness and knowledge of the jail’s layout to discreetly deliver narcotics to inmates. Investigators suspect the operation was part of a larger network of external suppliers and internal facilitators.

“Based on surveillance and specific intelligence, we apprehended four individuals, one of whom is a minor. They were caught in the act of delivering drugs to inmates using a rope-and-throw technique from behind the jail,” a police official said.

The suspects have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The minor has been sent to a juvenile home, while the remaining accused are in police custody for further interrogation.

Authorities are now probing how the accused obtained detailed knowledge of the jail premises and whether any insiders were involved. Officials have also increased vigilance around the jail perimeter to prevent similar incidents in the future.

This incident has raised serious concerns over security lapses in the correctional facility, prompting calls for a comprehensive review of surveillance and access controls at Colvale jail.
