PONDA/PANJIM: Former RSS Goa chief Subhash Velingkar is in for more trouble as four more sections are likely to be slapped on him for his derogatory remarks on St Francis Xavier.

The Ponda Citizens Forum and parishioners from the town filed a complaint against Subhash

Velingkar.

They said that Velingkar's comments could incite communal discontent and tension in Goa.

The complaint requests a fresh FIR against Velingkar under Sections 192 (provoking rioting), 196(1), 197(1) and 302 (words, gesture to wound religious feelings) of BNS, 2023 to the initial charge of Section 299 (outraging religious feelings). They stated that the Bicholim Police had already booked Velingkar under Section 299.

Meanwhile, the Bicholim Police on Sunday issued a second notice to former Goa unit chief of RSS Subhash Velingkar against whom at least half a dozen complaints have been filed across the State.

In the notice, Bicholim Police Station PSI Viraj Dhauskar said, “During the course of investigation, it is revealed that there are reasonable grounds to question you to ascertain facts and circumstances from you in relation to the present investigation. Hence, you are directed to appear on October 6, 2024, at 5 pm at Bicholim Police Station.”

The Bicholim Police have booked Velingkar under Section 299 of BNS for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by making comments on St Francis Xavier on a complaint filed by Velim MLA Cruz Silva.

North Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) Akshat Kaushal said that efforts are on to apprehend Velingkar and multiple raids have been conducted by Goa Police in Goa and Maharashtra.
