MARGAO: Seventy-year-old French national Patrick Repe Jean Marie Saint Priest, who was staying at a guesthouse in Calata-Majorda was brought dead in Hospicio South Goa District Hospital .
The Colva Police said that the husband and wife duo had arrived in Colva on December 28, 2024, and were residing at the guest house.
The police said that on Wednesday at 4.10 am they registered a case under Section 194 of BNSS after receiving a phone call from constable Ashok Adoor informing them that the French national was brought in a state of unconsciousness by his wife from Majorda. He was declared brought dead by the Medical Officer on duty at Hospicio South Goa District Hospital.
The police enquiry with the deceased’s wife revealed that on December 31, 2024, the deceased was taking rest in his bedroom as he was tired and when she returned to her bedroom, Patrick was found on the ground in an unconscious condition and not responding.
Further enquiry revealed that the deceased was a chronic alcoholic and addicted to smoking. The Police have ruled out foul play and are awaiting the postmortem examination.
The body has been preserved in the District Hospital morgue.
FRO has been requested to intimate the Embassy and confirm whether 57-year-old Jamila Mamdouh Saint Priest, bearing Passport no. P FRA 22D61375 is the wife of the deceased .
The police said that the standing order regarding the foreign national’s death is being followed. Colva LPSI Varshda Naik Dessai is conducting further investigations.
Meanwhile, the Canacona police said that they have written to the British Embassy regarding the death of 57-year-old UK national Andrew William Wyatt in a resort at Palolem. Canacona police have ruled out foul play
The police said that so far they have not received any information about the relatives of the deceased and they are waiting for a reply.
The body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital Morgue, for medico legal formalities .
Police enquiry revealed that the deceased was staying alone in a room for the past one month and he
was a habitual drinker and a diabetic.
