In a proactive move, the Parse Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal stepped forward on Thursday to repair a badly deteriorated road in the village of Parse. The initiative comes ahead of the Ganesh Visarjan festivities, a time when thousands of devotees participate in processions, and the condition of roads plays a vital role in ensuring smooth and safe celebrations.
According to members of the Mandal, the stretch of road had been in a neglected state for quite some time, causing daily inconvenience to villagers and posing risks to motorists and pedestrians.
Despite repeated appeals and complaints, neither the local Panchayat nor elected representatives made any effort to address the problem. This lack of response left the community disappointed and frustrated, ultimately prompting the Mandal to take up the responsibility themselves.
Volunteers of the organization raised funds and mobilized manpower to carry out the repair work on Thursday morning.
The initiative was aimed not only at facilitating the upcoming Ganesh immersion procession but also at providing relief to residents who have endured the difficulties caused by the damaged road for months.
Leaders of the Mandal expressed strong dissatisfaction with the authorities, stating that it was unfortunate that citizens had to step in and fill a role that rightfully belonged to government agencies.
They emphasized that while cultural organizations are happy to contribute to community welfare, essential infrastructure such as roads must remain the responsibility of elected bodies and civic institutions.
The repaired road is expected to ease the Ganesh Visarjan process and ensure devotees can participate in rituals without facing unnecessary hardships.
However, the Mandal stressed that their efforts should serve as a wake-up call for the administration to act promptly on public issues rather than leaving them to community groups.
