
Agassaim police on Tuesday night arrested a 27-year-old security guard employed under the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) at the Super Specialty Block of Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, for allegedly assaulting a visitor.
According to police, the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon near Ward No. 61 on the sixth floor of the hospital. The accused, a resident of Sancordem in Dharbandora, allegedly attacked the complainant following an argument.
Investigators said the guard struck the visitor with a metal ‘kadda’ (bracelet) he was wearing, causing a deep bleeding injury to the left cheek. Based on the complaint filed, police swiftly registered a case and placed the accused under arrest later that night.
The complainant had reportedly been at the hospital to visit a relative admitted to the ward. Police said further investigation is underway.
