The Monsoon Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly began on a stormy note Monday, with a heated exchange between Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant during the Question Hour.

Tensions flared over the postponement of Question 1A, which was tabled by Yuri Alemao. The Opposition leader strongly objected to the delay, demanding an explanation and accusing the government of attempting to evade accountability on important matters.

Chief Minister Sawant responded firmly, defending the government’s position, which led to a tense back-and-forth in the House within minutes of the session commencing.

The verbal clash set the tone for what is expected to be a contentious Assembly session, with the Opposition gearing up to raise several public issues, including governance, infrastructure, and law and order concerns. The incident also underscored the growing friction between the treasury benches and the Opposition over procedural and policy matters.
