PANJIM: Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and Belgaum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) have expressed concern over Anmod to Ramnagar and ChorlaGhat roads from Goa border to Jamboti and decided to take up the issue with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari.
According to a statement from the GCCI, both the chambers have decided to take the issue of Goa-Karnataka road connectivity jointly. The decision was taken during a recently held meeting of GCCI and BCCI at Belagavi inKarnataka.
“The road from Anmod to Ramnagar is under repairs for over ten years now and a stretch of eight kms is in very bad shape. Inspite of assurances and follow-ups, no action is being taken up for the repairs. Further, the road from Ramnagar to Khanapur is also not repaired. Also, the Chorla road from Goa border to Jamboti needs permanent repairs,” the statement said.
The chambers also noted that the goods traffic from Goa to Karnataka and vice versa is badly affected due to the bad road.
The BCCI also complained that enforcement agencies harass trucks carrying vegetables at some entry points in Goa, while, traffic police create unnecessary issues for them and sought help from the GCCI to address the issue.
The BCCI also pointed out that some middleman agents control the vegetable business and do not pay the vegetable vendors.
