The much-anticipated Goa Cashew Festival 2025, originally set to take place from April 25 to 27 at D.B. Grounds, Panjim, has been postponed as a mark of respect for the innocent lives lost in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
The decision was formally announced by the Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC), the organizing body of the event. Officials stated that new dates will be announced shortly, and the festival will be held at a later time in a more appropriate atmosphere.
“The postponement reflects our solidarity with the families of the victims and our deep grief over the tragic loss of lives,” a GFDC spokesperson said.
The Pahalgam attack, which occurred on April 22 at the Baisaran meadows, claimed several lives and left many injured. It has prompted an outpouring of condolences and nationwide mourning, including tributes from the Goa government.
The Goa Cashew Festival is known for celebrating the state’s rich cashew heritage, including traditional distilling of feni, culinary delights, and local crafts. The event typically draws thousands of visitors, including tourists and locals alike.
