Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today inaugurated the new office premises of the Directorate of Prosecution, marking a significant step towards strengthening the rule of law and modernising the state’s legal infrastructure. The event was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, Advocate General Devidas Pangam, and several senior officials and dignitaries.
In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted that this initiative reflects the government’s broader vision to empower Goa’s legal institutions. “We are committed to building a robust, efficient, and accessible justice delivery system. The Directorate of Prosecution is central to upholding the rule of law, and this modern facility will help our prosecutors carry out their duties more effectively,” he noted.
As part of the push to digitise and modernise prosecution processes, the Chief Minister also distributed laptops to all government prosecutors. Equipped with the latest legal software and enhanced security features, these laptops are designed to promote paperless operations, faster case preparation, and seamless access to legal databases and digital resources—ultimately improving coordination within the criminal justice system.
Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou underlined the importance of institutional empowerment and infrastructure upgrades in ensuring timely justice. Advocate General Devidas Pangam praised the government’s focus on digitisation, observing that the new premises and technology will help prosecutors keep pace with evolving legal practices and manage cases more efficiently.
The newly inaugurated Directorate of Prosecution office features modern amenities, secure digital infrastructure, dedicated workspaces, and meeting rooms. Seen as a milestone in Goa’s ongoing efforts to boost transparency, accountability, and professionalism in legal processes, the project is expected to help build a more effective justice system for the people of the state.
